The largest Nike store in Europe was recently opened in the Designer Outlet Centre Roermond.
After six years of intensive work on this ambitious project, we at Kern Architects are proud of the impressive result.

The new building, fully integrated into the distinctive architecture of the Designer Outlet, is a model of sustainability. It is constructed from a wooden CLT structure and equipped with 376 solar panels. Thanks to these and other sustainability measures, the building has achieved the prestigious BREEAM Excellent certification.

Architecturally, it is designed to seamlessly integrate into the centre, with traditional architecture styles such as the local Maasland style. This building follows those basic principles, with white painted brick façade, natural stone details and dark painted shutters. On the other hand, it embodies the ruggedness of the Nike brand, with the bold colour choices and the modern industrial looking lit shutters.

The main feature is a giant spider-glass façade with a 4x6 meter transparent LED screen that is located at the end of the shopping street, making a bold statement to the entire street.

The official opening took place with the building being inaugurated following a joint Nike run and the iconic Nike Huddle. This event marks an important milestone for Kern Architecten, Nike and Designer Outlet Centre Roermond.
