Vari, the Texas-based furniture manufacturer famous for pioneering flexible sit-to-stand workstations for the active workplace, tapped Corgan to design its Global Headquarters and multi-tenant “spaces-as-a-service” campus. To articulate its wellness brand and support not only the health and wellbeing of its 300+ employees but also tenants who lease space, leaders wanted the Class A building to achieve Fitwel certification and entrusted Corgan’s designers and Fitwel Ambassadors to create a design to promote activity and connection aligned with their standards and policies.
A flexible, adaptable workplace
The project represents the true evolution of the workplace turning space into an amenity with flexible workspaces and adaptable furnishings. The layout encourages collaboration, focused work, socialization, and learning with curated hospitality spaces, open seating and touchdown lounge areas, and well-appointed conference and meeting rooms for staff and tenants to share. The space is ideal for the company that prioritizes fitness and innovation, making them central to their products and services, while also serving as a model for enhancing wellness objectives, fostering interaction, and cultivating high-performance through an energetic and connected environment.
Motivating and energizing
Promoting movement and activity, a monumental stair anchors the lobby and serves as the primary artery connecting activities and teams. An intentional floor plan floods the interiors with natural daylight and orients workstations near windows, tapping into the mental and physical benefits of nature and sunlight to reduce stress and harmonize circadian rhythms. Organic biophilia, baffle ceilings, and warm wood millwork create a calming experience while LED lighting and bold pops of color energize the space.
On-target branding
Motivational signage provides engaging facts, such as the number of calories burned by taking the stairs or the steps needed to climb Mount Everest. To meet Fitwel standards for nutrition, a grab-and-go market offers healthy food and beverages while water dispensers encourage hydration. Onsite policies, such as maintaining a non-smoking campus and facilitating a crop share drop off, embrace sustainability in a holistic manner, encouraging active and healthy lifestyles. As the third building in DFW to receive Fitwel certification and winner of the Best in Building Health Award, VariSpace is a testament to how custom-tailored workplaces and tools such as Fitwel can contribute not only to a healthy workplace but also to the bottom line.
